AN-225

The Antonov AN-225 Mriya, which means “dream” in Ukrainian, is a strategic transport aircraft designed by the Antonov design office in Ukraine. It held the title of the world’s largest aircraft, both in terms of size and load capacity.

In February 2022, during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the only operational AN-225 was destroyed at Hostomel airport. Discussions are underway about rebuilding the aircraft, but no concrete plans have yet been officially announced.

The AN-225 remains an icon of aviation, symbolising technical prowess and human ambition to push back the limits of what is possible.
